      Sand filter conversion

      Hello everybody,

Looking for advice. I bough this filter from someone that closing down a pond and today while washing it I was surprised by the small amount of media/rocks inside. As you can see in the pics it’s less than 5 Gallons. I would like to know if I should add a different media; where I can get it from and if the filter is missing something to be used? There was a wire mesh inside that I don’t know what to do with it. Any other advice is appreciated.

Hi I converted one similar to this to an upflow filter with K1. Fitted plastic mesh to the top pipe and I had a spider pipe in the bottom which I drilled more holes in. I work it in reverse water in the bottom out at the top. I connected a 15mm plumbing pipe with a non return valve and pump air in when emptying, cleaning. Get a lot of muck out when cleaning, hope this helps.
      Graham.
