      Gin rin matsukawabakke

I have been looking for a nice matsukawabakke but most of them are very black with only a little bit of white.. Its hard to find a good blend. Not to mention they tend to get darker with age.. Found this one a bought it.. So far its very nice. I hope the pattern doesn't change too much over time.

I like your choice, that variety has always intrigued me. If your water isn't to hard I think you're going to enjoy this one for a long time

I don't know much about keeping this breed. My gh is typically low (less than 2 drops) but i keep a very high kh which keeps my ph around 8.5.
Would you consider that as being to hard for this breed? It would be a shame to turn it black.

I am a big fan of matsukawabake. Most of them would have developed tons of sumi already as tosai. I think yours is just about right.

As for me, I wouldn't mind if a matsukawabake ultimately become a hajiro....

All black koi are supposedly lucky but very hard to see in the pond. I probably could of spent a whole lot less on a hajiro as well. I'll try update you next year to see if it held its color.

The end game for most mastu is all black. Some just take longer to get there than others.
Yours is likely male. The GR on white is always stunning

Poor quality koi for sure but it’s the kinda koi you could keep in pond and people who know nothing about koi would say it’s there favorite.

I would like to know as well. The pics don't do this koi justice. That white really sparkles with the gin rin.. Im getting some new koi next week so if i get a chance to pull it I'll try to take a video.

If I were you I wouldn't attach myself to his comment too much. After seeing his profile and previous comments...
