How about a nice looking Bloody Mary? Wrong! I am talking about a Bloody Mary neocaridina shrimp!

Interesting shrimp a re the snowballs because the shrimp are clear and when carrying eggs, the eggs look like snowballs. Here is a pic of some of the shrimp, although these are not big enough as yet to have eggs

Blue Jelly is a very popular color as it is pale blue shrimp that looks almost clear. Much the color and look of the jellyfish that washes ashore on the beach on occasion.

Here is a picture of Red Onyx neocaridina shrimp. This is a female that has lots of eggs under her torso where she holds until they hatch. Females have extra leg like appendages below their torso that they use to hold the eggs as well as rotate the eggs. It takes from three to five weeks from the time the eggs are fertilized until they hatch.

I set up four new tanks today for shrimp by taking water from existing tanks and filling the new tanks. I will put sponge filters in them tomorrow and lights. Right now I am letting the water acclimate. I will also put shrimp in them tomorrow as I will be using seeded filters. The pic is of the two five gallon tanks on the top of a metal stand which can hold 2 twenty gallon long tanks. I will put a 20 gallon long on the bottom later. My other two tanks today is a ten gallon tank and a 20 gallon long.

Have axelots?

Yes, I have six still but I am not breeding them currently. I have two for sale and the four I am keeping. It is hard to get the live black worms needed to feed them from the time they are two weeks old until they are three months old. Anyone interested in an Axolotl?

We downsized three years ago and are glad we did. We can enjoy going places and doing things without having to maintain so much.

One nice thing about shrimp and Axolotls is that they do not need a lot of care. Axolotls need a 20 gallon tank however, but shrimp only need a Five gallon tank or even smaller. So depending on how much room you have may make a difference as to which you choose.

Me too. I have just one aquarium that I am selling then I will be done with inside fish. Only fish outside from now on. Getting to tired to take care of so many things.

Do you see why they call a female shrimp which is carrying eggs under her torso, berried? The eggs look like little berries before they hatch. This is a red onyx female neocaridina.
