You could be right because we couldn't be much farther apart geographically , but I had a 70w UV
built into the BE and have never cleaned the screen in the 6 years I've had it. The first few years
I thought it was because of the UV... but then the bulb finally burned out after 3 1/2 years. I never replaced
it but I've still never needed to clean the screen. My water did tint green, so I plugged in another UV I had in line
with my other filtration that I had turned off when I got the RDF and UV with it... and green water was gone.
Today still no build up on the RDF.
Hi all,
I didn't check back on Koiphen for along time. Most of my post on this thread got deleted because I'm not a "Approved member". I just paid for the membership so here I go again.
I saw many people think that that blue wheel is an issue. No it is not. It is the part of the design. There are nothing good about metal contact metal without lube. look in any motor, gearbox and in your car. they all use lube because of this issue.
Now talking about our famous "BLUE" gear. It's make out of Delrin with is industry standard to replace for metal. We have been running the same wheels on our very 1st unit for 5 years and it still work as good as the 1st day.
"Delrin acetal homopolymer (Polyoxymethylene POM) is the ideal material in parts designed to replace metal. It combines low-friction and high-wear resistance with the high strength and stiffness such applications require. It provides a wide operating temperature range (-40 °C to 120 °C)"
The second benefit of this "BLUE" gear is the motor running very smooth and extremely quiet. It will have a initial worn where the metal touching the gear from the 1st few weeks but that is it. When it settle in, it will be just like that forever. We can also ship you an extra wheel if you would like so. Nothing impossible! as long as you are happy, we will do that.

I’m still working on getting my new filter area completed so I can install my Aqua Studios RDF up and running
Any video review on the RDF? One concern I have with SS RDF is that will the steel gets rusted over time? Thanks!
Charlie
Looks like the price of the smallest model has gone up a lot in just a few months.
$2,500 to $4,200

The real Batman wears polyester! Don't be fooled by the plastic imposter.
I’m still working on my pond upgrades … had to run all new 3 inch pipe …. Replace skimmer with new Zakki No-Niche skimmer …. Build the filter area since it’s a gravity fed system… run electricity to this area and more. I’m hoping to have it done in a month or so
