I live in Florida ... the UV inside will keep the screen clean.

You could be right because we couldn't be much farther apart geographically , but I had a 70w UV
built into the BE and have never cleaned the screen in the 6 years I've had it. The first few years
I thought it was because of the UV... but then the bulb finally burned out after 3 1/2 years. I never replaced
it but I've still never needed to clean the screen. My water did tint green, so I plugged in another UV I had in line
with my other filtration that I had turned off when I got the RDF and UV with it... and green water was gone.
Today still no build up on the RDF.

How about your RDF's mesh? Is it getting brown and clogged with biofilm?

It does a little. I've been doing an annual clean of the mesh. Take it apart, clean it with bleach, good as new.

      Hi all,
I didn't check back on Koiphen for along time. Most of my post on this thread got deleted because I'm not a "Approved member". I just paid for the membership so here I go again.

I saw many people think that that blue wheel is an issue. No it is not. It is the part of the design. There are nothing good about metal contact metal without lube. look in any motor, gearbox and in your car. they all use lube because of this issue.

Now talking about our famous "BLUE" gear. It's make out of Delrin with is industry standard to replace for metal. We have been running the same wheels on our very 1st unit for 5 years and it still work as good as the 1st day.
"Delrin acetal homopolymer (Polyoxymethylene POM) is the ideal material in parts designed to replace metal. It combines low-friction and high-wear resistance with the high strength and stiffness such applications require. It provides a wide operating temperature range (-40 C to 120 C)"

The second benefit of this "BLUE" gear is the motor running very smooth and extremely quiet. It will have a initial worn where the metal touching the gear from the 1st few weeks but that is it. When it settle in, it will be just like that forever. We can also ship you an extra wheel if you would like so. Nothing impossible! as long as you are happy, we will do that.

Next topic will be about our company. We design and manufacture our RDF in house. We have our registered company and factory in Vietnam. we also have our company and our own office/warehouse in San Jose CA. All of our product is designed and manufacture in house by engineers, Architect, and Koi enthusiast. We also design koi pond, koi farm and agriculture fish farm for our client. Please let us know if you have any questions. We will address it all in the coming post.

I'm waiting for the admin to create our market place to post more information and we can always discuss in there, but in the mean time, please check our out website, Facebook page, Facebook supporting group for faster respond!
