      Cancer?

      Hello friends:

This summer I got whole 2 fry, and one of them has quite nice ginrin, therefore I have kept it.

But unfortunately it developed a black spot on its upper lip, just like the ugly Hitlerīs mustache. It is solid, somehow up-risen, surface smooth, and not very soft. Could not be removed by scraping. What is it? Will it disappear? It is a lot of extra work to just take care of one single fry so I am considering whether it is worth to keep it.

The pictures are not very good for seeing anything other than color, and based on the pictures, I would say it is pigment, but as I said, the pictures don't show otherwise.

Sumi is black and often develops later on koi, usually from the back to the front. On a fish this young I would not be surprised if the pattern changes a few times as it is growing. If all the Sumi I see (potentially) on this fish does develop, it will be a nice pond grade fish. Almost positive it is not cancer but the fish's pattern. I would keep it just to see how it develops.
