      Is this a goldfish?

Can someone identify this fish for me.

      Is it a goldfish?

I had two awhile ago and cannot remember the name. I would like to get another.

      Thank you, Stephen

It sure looks like a goldfish to me

Been ponding for a while, with lots of successes, and lots of failures.

Koi will have barbels on the corner of lips (like a mustache), while goldfish will not. Also most goldfish are more curvaceous?

      Thanks for responding everyone.

I have an 8oo gal pond with with Koi so I know it's not that species. Not to sound fresh

Anyway, I bought this little 1" fish at a store and put it in a 10 gal. tank in the house. It grew to 4" and was beautifl to watch swim but my wife thought it was lonely and I knew it kneaded more room so i experimented by putting it in the pond. it loved it's new home , swam with my Koi and a couple other goldies. it even survived winter ice overs for a couple years then something got it. We had a racoon visit a couple times.

Anyway, I'd love to find another but I don't know what to ask for?

      Help

Ask for a white Comet goldfish. Many white and red goldfish lose the red and turn completely white, and some are born white.

Some may argue, but I'd suggest, (if I may) making your pond just a goldfish pond....do ya know just how big koi can grow, Dude!!!? I've some Koi in a 1500 gal. puddle,,,, and I consider that bare minimum! I'm do'n my new one at about 6200 gals, which should be much better for them to grow and swim!! Oh oh,,,now I probably started somethin!!! lol

Just my opinion but not a good idea mixing koi and goldfish. I learned the hard way a few (many) years ago. They will interbreed and you will have alot of
ugly fish. I removed over 200 one year.

Sorry to disagree but my few Koi have thrived for about 10 years even over winter (Pennsylvania) when I sometimes had an inch and a half of ice over. I did put two comets in and they must have bred because I wound up with about 8. Most disappeared due to a raccoon that briefly was in the area. From a previous poster I wouldn’t be surprised that my second mystery fish was a comet turned white. My 800 gal. fits our property nicely and the Koi are healthy.
