What do you think of this Showa (accidental buy)

Hey everyone, first time posting. I've been lurking for a bit as I've got my pond going this year.

I stumbled upon this koi on an auction site, placed a bid and didnt expect to win... well I did haha. Lesson learned...

Just wanted to get some feedback because I'm still learning what makes a koi expensive and what traits are desirable.

I won this koi for $275. I think it's a decent price and I really like the coloring. I've been looking for some with less white because I have a lot of white already.

I'd like to know what you think. Is this a quality koi? Its 9" and I see some more black that will develop in a couple spots.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Was this one from koi.com? I look every Sunday when they have new koi posted. There is more beni and sumi coming up soon on the nose. Most likely male but a good koi to have.

As a Showa, I don't see anywhere were it can go wrong.

      Quarantine,quarantine,quarantine.

      It's POWERFUL.

I like it! Beni looks like it will hold up well but there is a spot near the tail where it may separate a bit. The pattern reminds me a lot of my showa:

I like it, it's got nice balance between the beni and the sumi being a male will give a good opportunity to see how it finishes sooner than later, take a picture every 6 month's and post it so we can enjoy the journey with you and welcome koiphen

Thanks for the reassurance everyone, glad to hear it's a good one . I'm excited to see how it develops. I'll try to keep everyone posted.

I did get it from koi.com. They seem to have some really nice fish.

Jose, beautiful fish... that is a similar pattern!

What's the best quarantine routine? I've seen a lot of info but hard to know what all to do or what order to do it in. I have salt, proform c, a heater, and Kutsuri Fluke M. What else should I get? What regimen would you recommend?

Keep it with a clean mate in pristine water and look out for any signs of illness.

      Clamped up pecks.

Flashing on the bottom or walls

Jumping, trying to escape parasites creating irritations under the scales or in the gills.

      And medicating to suit.

      Garfield.

Very nice! The sumi and red are looking bold for this size, and the sumi on the face should strengthen in a few months.
