      3" Bottom Drain

Does anyone know if somebody in the world makes a PVC or ABS pipe that will fit the interior diameter of a 3" bottom drain? This year I have tons of algae on the bottom of my pond even though the water is crystal clear. If I use my pond vac the basket gets clogged up verrry quickly. I was thinking of using only my pond vac hose, plug it into my 3" bottom drain, and then start to partially empty the pond by gravity out into the back yard. For the winter season, I drain my pond down to 2 feet from my 4 foot deep pond so that my skimmer does not freeze.

I have checked out a 3" street 90º but it does not fit "into" the pipe.

Maybe you can use an inside coupler like this:

So your fish over winter in just 2' of water? Could a heater be put inside your skimmer instead?

KTownKoinut...why would I want to use a heater? The winter water temperature in NE is around 31ºF...and the top 3-6" of water freeze. The purpose of me lowering the water below the skimmer is only to keep water "in the skimmer" from freezing so that it does not crack the plastic skimmer.
I have had 12-16" koi in my smaller pond with only 18" of water and they made it through the winter. Water froze to about 8-10" in 2006. All the koi survived until I went on vacation in the summer of 2006 and a blue heron ate ~20 of my smaller fish, killed one of my larger fish and only one large fish survived. The only reason that fish survived was because he was black (dark), ugly,
and matched the color of the pond rubber liner. He turned out to be my favorite fish and the friendliest.
