However, from a flock spawn years ago involving a female shusui with no hi, just blue and white, and several metallic males, I got a blue and white shusui that had metallic white on the head and fins, though the light blue skin did not look metallic to me.

I like the reticulated scales of asagi. Right now, I have two adults, a male (nicer looking of the two) and female. I also have two female yamabuki ogons (metallic). Not my #1 plan, but I've considered crossing the male asagi with the better female yamabuki ogon. But I'm concerned I'll get koi that are all just sort of, kind of, dim metallic. And the whole, never having see a metallic blue koi, thing also concerns me with that idea.

Matt, I missed your post. i forgot i started a new thread here. Pls. cross those fish you cited. I said in one of these posts that i was floored when I found out that Ogon is a metallic fish. I think this is not obvious on doitsu ogon and i have stayed away from metallic with my ki shusui project because A. Hariwake killed the program for a while, and because B. shusui is not metallic and i am imposing shusui show standards on ki shusui. Asagi is a different story. Last year, i pulled an asagi from the Learning Curve Pond that seemed metallic. Lest we forget. i am still a relative noob. First Japanese koi bought in a shopping frenzy in 2009. (!!!) Again, please spawn those asagi x yellow ogons. If I had more water, I would try. I cannot imagine how this could not produce ki asagi. I looked up ki asagi on my browser, and I found nothing. I love my ki asagi, "Thellonia," to pieces. She is a flock spawn accident. I say, do it on purpose!

I liked four fish, but none of that matters.
What I really like was how I can't find a photo where you do not have a sincere ********-eating grin from ear to ear. Pond pulls suck about 80-90% of the total time. Not for you.

Luke, you always make me laugh. Thanks for that one.
I was thinking of you when we pulled the ki shusui pond. "You did it. But you're still nuts."

Lee, if you ever speak with Gene, ask him to tell you about the time he nipped out into the hallway of his hotel in Japan -- and the door closed, leaving him locked outside. He told this to me, himself.

Matt, it all comes down to enough water and time and of course, curiosity. If you cross this with that what will happen? I say do it. (!!!!!!) I'd like to know how it turns out. for sure.

Typically, they did not enjoy this experience at all, but the rest of us had a fun time and it did not rain!

Here are some pictures of the largest fish, both candids and tub shots, with more to follow.
