Is it bad for algae to grow on your bio media?

      Hi,
I'm wondering if letting algae grow on your bio media will hurt your bacteria's performance, growth, space to grow, or the pond?
      Thank you

In a few simple words, I don't want my neighbor occupying my space. Good healthy green algae has it's place in a system but not with my bio media.

There should not be enough sunlight getting to the media for the algae to grow. Cover the bio-converter.

......and not only will you avoid algae on the media, but also prevent sunlight from killing the beneficial bacteria you are trying to cultivate.
