So I'm doing a complete cleaning of my SK Advantage 10 bead filter and want to give the beads a 100% cleaning. Obviously the bead filter is offline and no way connected to the pond. The volume of beads is probably about 20-25 gallons (my 30 gallon trash can is nearly full with beads, crap and water).
So, what to use for this? PP? If so, how much for a 30 gallon trash can? How long would I "soak" it?
Define "clean" in regards to bead filter beads. If you want to kill anything alive, a good soaking in PP should do that very well. To clean off biofilm do something like repeatedly backwash the filter using a spa blower to agitate the crap outta (literally) off the beads so it can be rinsed away.
