Hi!
It seems standard to fiber glass a pond in England. However, in the US you don't see that very often. Is there a reason for it? Does anyone fiberglass in the US and could someone if they wanted to?
Thanks

I'm not sure why but it's certainly possible. I'm still working on a boat project and have
used a LOT of poly resin and chopped strand matting and "1708" rebuilding the boat and
can't imagine why it wouldn't work well for a pond shell. My guess is many have not tried
using fiberglass and so it comes down to using materials you're familiar with. I've got left
over cloth and resin and have thought about making some containers for a few lilies that are
outgrowing their plastic bins.
Evidently the percentage of the US population that works with fiberglass, such as boat building, is lower than in the UK. I am guessing most live near an ocean and ports. In the UK you are never more than 75 miles from an ocean. Compare that to the size of the US where you can be 1,500 miles from an ocean. So if I lived near an area where there were folks who routinely do fiberglass, I would definitely make inquiries.
We used to use to spray our own polyurea on ponds but not running the machine with enough frequency proved to be problematic. We switched to installing fiberglass liners on our projects in 2013.

Weekends are for Enjoying your pond..... not working on them.
Have you looked at polyurea? Are you having issues with your pond?
