I would not be ashamed of your KOHAKU. I think it will grow into it's head pattern very nicely.

Beni looks very strong and clears the eyes.

I am very much in favor of the regular shaped duckbill nose pattern.

The peduncle matches the strong head and abdomen body shape.

A Kohaku pattern always looks more balanced to me with a pinky finger white cuff between the last tail pattern and fin.

Remember, your fish need feeding small amounts of food over the course of the day.

They do not have a stomach large enough to reserve food over the course of the day.

Nice patterned kohaku. I just wonder how good its skin is. Seems to be quite thin.

You did a whole tutorial about it, thank you very very much for your time, I have koi in my pond that they are going to be more than twenty years old with me, all bred from babies. I guess if this Kohaku is male or female, I know that it is practically impossible to notice it with this size and low res photographs but, I think it's female, what do you think?

Thanks Simon, I could not tell you since I have not received it yet, but it does not seem to be its best quality judging photography.

What about the beni running up into the dorsal fin? Is that expected to recede as the fish develops? I think it's a nice fish for 80.

I think that the beni should never be in the pectoral and caudal fins, but it is not a showstopper if it is mounted in the base of dorsal fin, but it would be great to be asking the masters here present in this nice forum...

I believe one is supposed to deviate from noticing the demerits of a fish in the pond.

      Look only for the merits.

      Body shape is number 1
