Found a turtle nest in private property

My family runs a campground on a lake, and we have lots of painted turtles. Just yesterday I witnessed a turtle laying a nest, but the problem is it was in the middle of a seasonal campsite. I heard I'm supposed to put a cage over it to keep animals out, but its in a seasonal's campsite

If the site has to be rented I guess I would try to relocate the eggs to a safe place.

First talk to the owner of the campground. Move them away but as close as you can to the original nest. Then put a cage over it. Tag it with info and that it is not to be bothered. Thanks for caring about the eggs.

If you do relocate, it is imperative you first mark the eggs, so they can be replaced in the same orientation. Unlike birds whee the eggs need to be periodically rotated, if the position is changed in a turtle egg, the yolk will smother the embryo. You may want to consider incubating the eggs yourself, rather than moving them.
