      My turtle habitat

      Hi guys,

Brand new to the forum and turtle care in general so please take it easy!

Me and my other half recently purchased a turtle, been wanting one for years and finally had the space, finances etc to do so. All we want to do is give the liName: IMG_9598.jpg

I have attached some photos of the new tank we got only a couple of weeks ago, the water during the first couple of days is lovely and clear but turns green/brown/murky really quickly, you can probably see from the photos ive attached, the stones also go brown and Hector (turtle) usually attempts to eat this brown stuff that seems to grown on the stones?

We put in the extra filter to see if that would help but hasnt really done much, we have a cannister filter underneath the tank which is brand new. The basking area has a normal heat lamp which is on for roughly 4/6 hours a day, we have to manually turn it off as someone recommended doing that as may have been the cause of algae? Im not sure to be honest.

Any help/advice etc would be amazing as we're clearly doing something wrong.

      Chris

Read up on lighting; very important for a healthy shell. Good luck!
