Need help in finding the correct GPH

Looking into a new pump for my pond. Can't read any of the info on my old one and can't remember what I pruchased.

Pond is 2600 gal. With 2" pipe and the top of the waterfall is around 3 feet above the top of the pond.

      Do I need a 3500gph?
The first step towards getting somewhere, is to decide you are not going to stay where you are.

What are you running for filtration ? My pond is 2500 gallons with a 3" skimmer line, a 4" BD going to a SC and 4 cubic foot prefilter, then 6800 gph pump, to a S&G with a split for it and a shower/ waterfall..

Do you have access to the 2" pipe return? Stick a 5 gallon bucket under the return and
count how many seconds it takes to fill the bucket. With that you can calculate how many
gph you are flowing and what pump you need to replace the old one with.

Most pumps have a GPH rating that is much higher than what you would actually ever see in a real-world application.

Pump data sheets typically have two numbers. Flow and head. You don't get both at the same time. Flow on the pump data sheet is the max flow with no pressure drop at the outlet of the pump. Head on the pump data sheet is the max head developed by the pump with no flow. Don't blame the pump manufacturer as he doesn't know your application. Both points (max head and max flow) define the extremes of the pump curve ... which is a plot of head vs flow.

12m max head, 16m3/hr max flow. What you get is somewhere in between. Find the equivalent pump curve for your pump. Put a pressure gauge on the outlet of the pump and read the flow from the curve. It's pretty accurate!

If your planning on a new pump get two. Have separate circuits so if one dies the other will keep going. Two Sequence 750 at 2500 gph @ 5' would do quite nicely.
