      The koi needs to have some antibiotic applied to the reddened area on its shoulder. That is an ulcer being formed due to bacterial infection. I prefer to use Tricide Neo on the affected area as a powder applied with a Q-Tip or injectible antibiotics, but cleaning the area with peroxide followed by drying and applying a triple antibiotic ointment is sometimes effective. All of these will require sedating the fish with either clove oil or MS-222.
