      Antibiotic injection adverse reaction

Good morning. I have a very large koi that has had a large ulcer sore on side for a long time and treated topically with no result. She was developing additional sore spots, bumps etc. I investigated injections of antibiotics and saw that the common Terramycin 200 has been used. I took a risk and gave an injection.

My big fear is that I overdosed. Is that possible? She is ailing. Grayish, on bottom, had some fluff ooze which I removed. Good news is the wounds are healing. Bad news, looks like she’s dying. Any thoughts? I think by trying to save, I killed her.

I have never run into this before. I don't know what a proper dose would be for that med, as I have never used it. For the meds that I have used, we have tables for dosage determination based on length and because of the difficulty in getting meds, never wanted to use more than necessary, so not sure what the effect of an overdose would be. Sorry.

      I haven't used it either.

May I ask where you got it and what guidelines there were for its use? Have you done injections before?
I'm hoping the place you got it had directions for its use.
Still learning as I go but y'all can call me Marilyn

I went by the instructions, but I think she was highly diseased. She passed this morning 🙁
