Smallest turtle I've ever seen

Look what made its way to my pond this morning.



I thought it was a piece of algae on the lily pad until I looked closer.

That's tiny is that newly hatched?

Definitely. We get a lot of them here because of the big pond in back, but most of them are bigger than a quarter.

You have never seen a wild turtle? Would have thought they would have been all over the US.

I've read that there's a couple of different types in Washington state but they're rare.
I've lived in this area my whole life (60+ years) and I've never seen one except in a pet store.

One year in my old greenhouse that had sand up under one of the benches I found 4 baby box turtles that had hatched out and they were tiny

WoW he is so small. Hope he doesn't become a snack.
