Spring. Herons are migrating north. Watch your koi!

They come back every year to their favourite feeding ground but not without stopping by on the way there; ignoring the social distancing rule!

I've not sighted any here yet, but any day now.

I'm tired of the ugly net over my pond, so this year I'm putting a pergola over the pond and I'll be able to put some much wider weave netting around the perimeter.

My pond was attacked by 3 egrets at once and they did damage.
I have decided to rebuild because of it.
      No more ledges

I have had a few huge birds herons or something with very long beaks looking at the koi in my pond. I have a huge natural pond in my neighborhood that the birds always hang out at. Put Powerful Air diffusers in pond on wifi switch to phone and makes the birds not be able to see the koi and birds not been back. When I want to view the koi turn them off via wifi on phone.

I have a shade screen over my pond....Living near the ocean we have Herons, Egrets, and Pelicans.....In all my years I have only had one Heron visit my yard, the fishing line that is strung 9 feet up in the only clear way into the pond (others blocked by trees) kept him out..He never returned....

Had one this week sitting on my garage looking at my pond which is netted right now. My wife saw him and scared him off.

Welp...for the first time in 13 years a heron or herons came and I lost 3 koi. 2 of them were certificate Koi I had gotten from Genki. So now my pond is covered in a big net, but it’s better than losing more koi.
