I did not know that losing pattern was a tendancy. There have only been three ochiba that I have kept for multiple years, and they did not lose their patterns. One's pattern changed some, but it stayed ochiba. In your experience, at about what age range are they more likely to lose the pattern?

I think a ginrin soragoi or ginrin chagoi can still look pretty nice. And I have also noticed ochiba, soragoi, and chagoi, tend to be more tame / friendly.

really dont know at what age. Just my experience. Would guess about 5 or so. Depends. Some of mine went quickly others slower. Others no change.

It's an interesting thought but here it goes, with what I've learned about different koi varieties 3 is the max am willing to go it really takes a long time for one to truly understand how a particular koi blood line will develop and learnig on how to find find the better one's that's the trick and one won't really know how a particular pair of oyagoi will perform but no worries hopefully my idea for next spawning season will come with a little experience help all announce around next April what's going to take place lord willing
