What's your temperature right now? My fish aren't anywhere near the mood yet
WOW, now that's impressive!! I'm totally certain that I never got that high of yield. Good luck getting them through the next few weeks! Gotta be a few show quality fish in that batch... Looking forward to seeing them develop.
Sure looks like great numbers. How big is the female?
75 degrees! Wow, my main pond was 48 F yesterday.
First, you mentioned her white face Matt that white is from front to back I guess luck was on my side during the time of purchase but that's Panda Junior blood line. Now back to the egg count that's an 8' tank and from the dead eggs am guessing they missed about 1.750 that's why the farms opt for artificial insemination to get their numbers up and still the fry hatch am seeing is way up, now all they have to do is get thru the first week and all be looking for the black ones during the first cull next month.

How do you manage the dead eggs? Do you try to remove them or can the filter handle the load? Sorry, you may have covered this previously. Now, if you lived just down the street, I'd gladly help with culling...
Egg management and by that I think you're asking about the non fertilized ones, the protein eventually becomes food for the fry and by that time the fry are hard enough for their first cull. I don't remove any eggs, nature takes it's course, just water changes as needed and we go from there and the sponge filters are my best friend.

I worry my ammonia will spike too high. So once the fry can swim, I remove maybe 80-90% of the eggs. I move a small net VERY SLOWLY along the bottom, but in a series of short abrupt movements, so most of the fry will swim away from it. Then I put the glob of gunk in the middle of a tub filled to about 2" with pond water. I gently move my hands around the gunk, so the most of the fry that are in the glob swim to the sides, but I do it slowly so I don't move the gunk around much. Then I net out the glob out of the middle and release the fry back into the spawning tub. Then I repeat all the steps a few times.
Am also adding prime every 3rd day to bind the ammonia till the filters catch up.

I used Prime for the first time last year. Nice thing to have around for sure. Especially after spawning.
I'm not that familiar with Prime, but use Fritz ACCR to bind ammonia after spawns.
WOW that's a lot of babies Looking forward to watching the outcome

Good morning everyone, this is my supply of food for these fry I have had this culture ready for a few weeks I pump 50 to 60 gallons every other day and this year I will make a change in the powder I will start feeding these fry.

Hi Orlando
Is this just algae, or are there any other organisms present?
Definitely not suggesting you should change anything, just want to share what I've been doing for the last few years. Golden Pearls Fry food. It's not super expensive and comes in many different sizes. Here's a link:

My fry feeding regiment hasn't changed first 10 day's they get green water ( am sure there are all kinds of micro bug's) with koi food that been grinded to a dust after the 10 day's I stop the green water and they go on the koi food including all they can forage on the algae that's growing in the tank walls and bottom. The only change I have made this year is I switched koi food brands and these fry have already reached the growth last year's fry had achieved in one month and these are 1 week old. I do have to add this year the eggs were a little larger than last year's, but will compare images next month to last year's first harvest.
