Happy New Years!
Although not particularly fancy, these are actual New Year's blooms. < g > First is a tree named Mitragyna that loves wetlands and is related to the native Cephalanthus or Buttonbush. Next is the first bloom of the year for the Calla lily 'Hercules', then a mint species originally from the Southwest but comes from higher elevations so loves the winters and moist soil, a BLC orchid named 'Hamelins Magic' that is fragrant at dawn and finally the resident garden gnome. I replaced his mojo bag as they rot away in the summer , but still need to work on his headpiece....about my only New Year's tradition is sprucing him up for the impending season. < g >
