Scales missing, stretched or something gone wrong?

I have a orange koi that i got this spring was a tiny baby. He/she is all orange doitsu and has really put on a lot of growth. He is double the size of his siblings probably approaching 10 inches. I was outside today doing filter cleans and noticed what looks like white spots between most of his row of scales. Not like ich or carp pox but like the scales have a space between them or it lost every other scale. Have not had doitsu koi before and not sure if this is normal or if its something I should try and pull him for. NO flashing water is great ph of 8.0 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate like 5 to 10. Just with the cooler water I know I am in the danger zone of things going wrong. Water is in the upper 50s to low 60s because a warm trend here lately. Anyone ever seen this?

Really hard to tell without a photo but it sounds like you have a doitsu that is growing up. I would suggest you google pics of doitsu koi or provide a pic.

I was trying to avoid catching him if it sounds normal. My poor fish if I Pull out a net it stresses everyone so bad they hide from me for weeks.

I hear the fear of netting fish a lot. I'd just toss out a thing I do when I need to catch a
koi... put the net in the pond a day or two before you ever plan on using it. They get used
to seeing it and it won't be instantly an intrusion and something to be feared. Go slow...
there's no time limit and the more you hurry to try and "catch" them, the more stress they
      (and you) will be under.

I'm with Andrea... it's hard to even guess without seeing the fish.

Okay I caught him along with about 6 others when trying using my goldfish net. And it is more of an armour scale then doitsu. A closer look one of the scales looks a little red will probably swab it. So here is the whitish areas between the scales that caught my attention.Name: orange.jpg

You can take a q-tip and rub iodine on the affected area being sure to get it under the scale. The white is normal.

thanks Russell I did treat it before i released him. It is not an expensive koi but still one of my friendliest. I got him from a lady in April that was selling her babies to buy a new pump and he was one of the few I got from her I was thinking about keeping because of its personality and growth. This was the little thing in April.

Fish looks perfectly healthy. That is just space between the Doitsu scales and/ or the edge of the scales that lacks the orange color. If no redness involved I would not do anything as there does not appear top be anything wrong

I would agree with this comment as there appears to be a pattern with the white, so no problem.

Thanks for the responses. I did treat the one scale that had a little red to it with just a swab before I released it. The color or lack of between the scales is new to this koi. I turned off the uv and let the water go green for a month or so because of a bird issue in the area but when i decided to clear it back up I seen this and was not sure what it could be was hoping just from growth. Really hope the whitish areas fill back in with pigment though.
