Hello friends:
I had 3 nice hariwake, but 2 of them have been losing colors. One is now completely white though still beautiful. I just wonder what it is now? Platinum ogon?

If you have Facebook you are better off asking there. Way more active.
I see that you are curious, too.
Here are a few groups:
All Things Koi
KOI POND OWNERS
Koi and Pond Fish
Koi Keeps of North America
Koi Pond and Watergardens Club
Keep it Koi
But on a more serious note, way more pictures and videos, daily.
I picked one of your choices at random to see what FB had to offer... here was the first post:
If you enjoy it, that's great. But to recommend it to everyone is disingenuous imo.Hey I'm looking for somebody who's experienced with dogs with emergency help the help diagnose whether or not I need to run to the vet in the middle of the night
FB is okay but I've never found it to work better than a forum in a forum type discussion.![]()
Actually your snow-white koi looks great anyway!
Hope that you understand that it is a joke, not meant to be mean!
I have to agree that this is an important part of the charm with koi: They change.

Kevin the issue is with facebook you are going to have a good bit of false information. Yes its a bigger audience but the information is not usually very reliable. Seems like every time i turn around someone is posting use melafix on everything. I want to scream all they are doing is messing up what poor water quality they have and adding tea tree oil to there fish. But hey it does make them change their water which is usually the issue in the first place.
I'm a member of many Facebook koi and pond groups. Even on FB some are messaging about decline and the number of quality posts. Several dissatisfied members have started their own groups thinking they can do better. It is getting more fragmented with many groups over a short time. Some of the sites are overrun with advertising and promotion. Definately a hobby on the downswing in the US for now.

The real Batman wears polyester! Don't be fooled by the plastic imposter.
I don't know about the hobby downsizing...although I would be curious. Plus its always slow in winter.
Such is the life of specialty forums and groups - you get to a point where info is just regurgitated with no experience. Experienced people get tired of repeating and defending themselves. Cliques form. Core group ages. New blood comes in. Cycle. Repeat.
