How big do Israeli koi usually get?

Due to economical reasons I have bought some Israeli koi instead of Japanese. I think that their coloration is acceptable. Of course they are pond-grade.

What I have noticed is that they grew slower than Japanese koi, which makes me wonder how big they will be. Is there anyone who has older Israeli koi who can tell me how big they became before they stopped grow?

      Thanks!

      Simon

I'm not familiar with anyone in the US bringing in Israeli koi because of the KHV vaccination protocol. Most of the members here are in the US so we likely won't be able to help you with this.

Still learning as I go but y'all can call me Marilyn

      Thank you Christian!

I noticed that you are living in Sweden as well, though I am further north, in Stockholm.

You have beautiful fishes! I wonder if you move them in-doors during the winter or you heat the pond? Last winter I lost most of my koi so this winter I have brought them all into my garage. I will try to do this all the coming winters, so smaller size (60 cm) is good enough for me! I will not have enough space in the garage otherwise.

      Thanks Simon.
My Koi is overwintering in the pond. (Outdoors). For the last nine years i had only lost two Koi. That was the first winter.
The key is a lots of oxygen, at least a deep of 1,2 m and good prerparations for winter.
I Do water changes if there is no ice on water surface.
My pond is about 35 000 lit.

I know someone with 50 Hazorea koi in a 10,000 gallon pond. They grew to 12-14 inches in one year and 20+inches the following year.Southern California.

Next Day Koi is the US importer/retailer of Hazorea koi. I've purchased many from them.

I have a couple asagi from next day koi- Israeli koi. I bought them last year at 5” and they’re 16”+this spring. I’ll never have growth like a Japanese mud pond. I have much less protein for my koi to eat and less water change than Niigata snows

Very good growth anyway! Not so much weaker than Japanese koi in growth performance!
