Oh oh my turn, my kohaku in trouble.

Went to feed this morning and I noticed Carla has redness around her mouth. Any ideas. I swear it wasn't there yesterday. Any ideas? She's in good spirits and eating. No flashing that I notice.

A couple of things come to mind, either a bump/bruise or the beginnings of an infection. If you feel it is an infection, I would pull her and topically treat it with iodine, TricideNeo or the like.

IME, mouth rot started on the very edges of the mouth area.

Edges of the mouth as in the corners of the mouth or the lip area?

Either as they are edges. It didn’t show up in fleshier areas but untreated can affect them.
I haven’t seen it on any koi I owned for years. I dealt with it in my pond and at the first couple of years and infrequently.
The feedback I got at the time was that it was not uncommon for newer ponds, particularly during aeromonas alley.
