Bypass holes if the filter goes down.

That makes sense for the upper holes, but why lower ones below the working water line?

Kathy can I get a measurement from the top or bottom of the waste collector to where you water level is? Install instructions show water level should be at the bottom of the waste collector, but your water level seems a couple inches below that. Is that due to drawn down from the pumps?

Not everyone runs at the same drawdown and static water level. If the drum went down all red plugs would manually removed to bypass the drum and still run pumps.

Looks like it'll work, thanks so much! Now to see if they'll sell me a few since they took them down from their website.

Very wide drum openings on this model RDf.

      Compared to #47

The larger openings are a higher flow option. You'll see that advertised with some drums.

More flow, more dirt, more strain on the filter media, shorter lifespan.

      Thanks!

If there is any way you can convert to a probe level switch you'll never have to worry about replacement again.

Kind defeats the purpose though. The holes bypass the drum, meaning that water does not get filtered.

The ports with red plugs are for emergency use and are normally closed. If the filter goes down for some reason and you still want to circulate water through your bio filters to keep them alive the bypass port plugs would be removed.

As with most imported products specifications are often messed up by language translation. They appear to offer 70 and 120 micron screen sizes. The parts section lists the 120 micron screen as standard. They claim to ship with a 70 micron screen and 8,000 gph capacity. With this opening size and the size of the drum that's extremely optimistic and very doubtful. They might achieve that rate with the 120 micron screen. Screens also load up with bio and filter to a micron size smaller than the stated openings. 120 micron screen size is still doing very well.

Looks like a reputable company. I'd contact them directly for details.

Is the flow rate really 8000 GPH? If that's the case, it's better than the Sea Side Aquatic's ECO-22, which is about 5000 GPH. This RDF fits my application with two pumps at 4200 GPH each.

SeaSide Eco-20 has conflicting standards posted. Max flow is less than standard flow.

Too lazy to do the maths myself but probably referring to Imperial gallons rather than US. The rest of the specs are metric, making me think it's imperial, which is 4.8L to a gallon, US is 3.6L)

Edit: urgh, did the maths. Max flow would be about 28,000LPH, or about 7,800 US GPH.

Edit edit: standard flow = about 27,600 LPH. Very close to max flow, but maths is not my (Aqua) Forté
