Agree, even at 5k gph an hour, its still a good filter for the price.
I just can't wait to see the thing in action.

Agree, I really feel that the sieve and RDF are overpriced. They're not really complicated device. I didn't really know the true cost before I get into this koi keeping hobby. It's a lot more than keeping a water garden with some gold fish.
I wonder why don't more US companies get into manufacturing equipment like the sieve or RDF.
Can someone please tell me the fitting size to connect to the spray bar. About to pull hair out
We used a 1 inch compression fitting. Tighten well or it'll blow off!
Dumb question. How do you get the thing to run. Plug everything in. Held red button down for 10 seconds. Spray pump kicked on. Drum rotated. But the main pump did not come on and the uv only turned on when it was cleaning. Kinda lost on what to do
Fishmover, were you able to get your rdf to work? I thought I had posted a reply, but don't see that it went through.
Check to ensure the bottom of the waste tray is sitting directly on the horizontal support, and the vertical area that is screwed on to the wall of the rdf is flush. I noticed ours teetered at that point.
I think we're losing about that to the wash cycles also.
Is using 300-500 gal per day common for an rdf? What are you doing with the water?
I was planning to spread the waste water over my garden to feed my plants but 300+ gallons a day seems like too much. Also thanks for all the great information on this filter. I think I’m going to order one soon.
300-500 gal daily is way too much. My 10K gph RDF is pumped 6-7K gph daily waste is 30 gallons, the spray cycle is every 45 min. I would time the float switch at max & min water line to make sure that it is regulating as it should. Also if the RDF waste tray is below your pond water level then the pond is dump into your waste line. It is a pain to raise/lower the RDF, maybe it is easier to lower the pond water just to confirm that it is not spilling over the RDF waste line.
That much water is not normal. In my case I had a leak that I addressed. Since addressing, I go through 300 to 500 gallons in a week. Which is due to both evaporation and RDF cleaning cycles.
For me the water gets pumped into my hard, maybe next year I will create something a little more tactical for the waste water.
I am looking for filter solution for a small pond, 300-500 gal, in our front patio. It's an old pond w/a skimmer and bio falls. We did a Zakki/S&G set up for our big pond in backyard, but no room for that in front patio. Was looking at bead filter, then came across this thread. It's no more $ than some of the P&P bead filter setups. It looks like they have two different models, C-30 PRO, C-25 EVO. The C-30 it says is approx 36"x20"x20". I can't tell if that includes the black equipment boxes on the side, or if that is just the box. Is that the unit in the videos and pictures in this thread, it looks a lot bigger? Also, 300-500 gallons/wk would be a huge amount of waste water for such a small pond. Would that waste volume go down proportionally for a smaller pond? I'd be doing a pump fed setup, we'd add a retrofit bottom drain. Appreciate any information you can offer. -cj-
I do not believe the size includes the black boxes. I think the size is just the filter box itself. Thats a lot of filter for such a small pond. You would not lose that much water in a week, but you would lose a little water at each cleaning, so something to consider
Do we have any other reviews from members using this rdf? As others have said, there isn’t much to these things so some market competition is a good thing for consumers.
Thanks for the feedback info. My husband is now thinking that we should either completely renovate it, increase size and put in a bottom drain, or fill it in... and he is leaning towards filling it in... and everything is now complicated because we have a broken water pipe, and a ginormous tree root has grown completely around the pipe and encased. No way to fix or cap it. We are going to have to find the pipe and it is buried somewhere under the patio in the proximity of the pond.. So, we have a problem now. :-(
