It's no big secret, I have a one track mind. I have to do this, not because I think I am going to succeed so much as I know I would regret at least not trying. Obviously as has been pointed out several times, this color doesn't exist in Koi and this isn't like mixing paint. I think the most common sense pairings to try initially would be a leatherskin Benigoi with a Konjo Asagi. My thinking is that some of the fry will be born with red tinted skin under the blue scales of the Asagi *theoretically* resulting in some solid colored Budo Goromo types. Maybe.
I will start collecting some Tosai for this project early next year, my goal for this year is 3 of each, hopefully with a male/female mix and begin the hurry up and wait process of growing them out to good Oyogi. I know some will wash out, die etc. so for the next two or 3 years the vast majority of new Koi will be specifically these (but I may or may not throw in a random pretty).
While I'm impatiently waiting to be disappointed by how my Koi do during their growouts, I will be adding more ponds (sticking with multiple Intex pools) more Bakki Showers Bogs etc. It's really good I have 3 years before my first Purple Spawn because I've got a lot of work and learning yet to do so I don't feel so rushed now. I will try to do at least one crappy spawn (pond mutts only) each year until then so I learn how not to kill the fry, cull etc.
Any and all advice appreciated as always.
