Am I just falling back on sexist stereotypes, or is this focus on giant fish primarily a masculine fixation? What is the big deal about growing giant fish? They have to be fed. They have to be housed. They cannot easily be moved. They make your other, normally-sized fish seem stunted and throw off the visual balance of your collection. They poop like nervous steers. Seriously, guys, size isn't everything!

I'm trying to see if I can breed them down the road to resell if I can keep them alive. Hopefully I'll have 1 female in there. Easy to sell fry if the bloodline is konishi 44.5 inches female and 37.4 inch male. Who doesnt want to have at least one koi in their pond over 1 meter long

Good luck with that, my first attempt at a paired breeding resulted in a lot of time and effort for minimal results. I would start studying up and getting things prepped. It may take a few years to get to breeding age/size but when one is ready, you need to be ready.

I think my karashigoi are growing even though I'm not feeding them that much right now.

Omg I just measured my konishin karashigoi 4/5 doubled in size.
Slowest grower gained from 4" to 7.5" that's 3.5" gain in a little over 2 winter months.
The fastest grower was the regular karashigoi 4" to 8.5" that's 4.5" gain
The other three are a little but over 8"
And I haven't even been feeding only 15-30 grams a day throughout the winter months
