Depends on how often you feed your koi. Usually 1-5hours.

The sieve if im lazy will just keep the detritus out of the bacteria house and keeping them clean.
The second tote of k1 serves a dual purpose, moving bed on one side and static k1 on the side.

Been working great. I'm only feeding 5x a day using p7000 and I'm doing 25% water change every 3-4 days

I'm glad the new filter is working out well for you. Is it possible to run that waste line somewhere else? I wouldn't want that dirty water all over my patio.

Thanks pickerel preferably I would reroute that dirty water to the backyard, it now runs down to a rain drainage under the pond and flows out to the streets. I then would flush it with a quick hose spray and all clean in a jiffy. I try to keep my side yard kinda clean. Only time I'm lazy are on the day before there the gardener comes. I agree that I'm wasting good fish fertilizer though.

Update on my DIY Pond Filter 2.0. Replaced my sieve mesh and inspected my bio right under the sieve. Looks like sieve is keeping bacteria house extremely clean

My water over the winter drops into the mid to low 40's but the algae
lives on. It doesn't seem to be effected much by the weather.
