Negotiate ICU. I only pay $50/month they take care of our front and back yard. Plus $50/year for rye grass and weed prevention. Our gardeners do not do our bushes but I do enjoy giving them a trim 2 times a year with my handy electric hedge trimmer

Okie dokie, artichokie! I find this to be absolutely fascinating. Please keep us updated and especially with recommendations for how you'll do it next time! Up until now, I have always to use submerged pumps with good pre filters, but my fish are growing and I keep getting more fish. It's time for a real filtration system. Also, I want to collect good fish poo for my plants! This could actually work for me. But as a filter neophyte, I am perfectly prepared to learn from your mistakes. 😊😊😊

Right on Dovey. Thanks for the love and let's make this hobby fun again. Mistakes will be made and that's okay. It's part of the learning process. If you are afraid of making mistakes you will never learn and grow. I know too many people who are on this forum and hide in darkness afraid of Koiphen Bullies picking at new koipheners. wheres the love in that? Some just want to sell their product and services and I'm okay with that but do it with tact.

This forum is supposed to be for making mistakes, fun learning and growing...

Do you have a YouTube channel let's see your current setup if you dont mind sharing...

Hey, I'd pay that! But I have about 3 acres and for some reason they want a lot more money.
      Yours looks great.

Look good so far.. It's up to the job already, collecting a lot of dirty stuff... I think you should consider adding a distribution tray on top of the ceramic rods for better water distribution. I also have concern on the output of the moving bed tote that the screen will clog someday when you are not home and water will overflow and empty your pond.. So, you should monitor it and see if you need to modify it...

In your case do you have one them tractor mower pulling 7 cutters in a series.
Cheapest method is probably controlled burn?

The last house owner paid $150/month for their gardener. Who needs their grass mowed every week? I fired him and hired these guys. Our grass gets mowed every other week and I do my own shrubs bushes and fruit trees

Next I will have to makeshift a rubber gasket to seal my 3 inch connection its leaking a little bit. But system is now in testing mode before I pvc cement glue everything in.
Use polyurethane sealant around the 3" connection. That's what most people do with DIY filters. Looking good!

      Nguyen365,

Thank you for sharing your efforts with the rest of the forum. I really enjoy threads such as these: showing ingenuity and creativity in building something within the financial means of the average backyard ponder. While I suspect you will discover -- over time -- that your sieve design may require a few adjustments, I think your design is simple, clever, and elegant. You are reminding me of what I used to more-regularly enjoy about this forum. Thanks again, and keep up the great work.

He's right about the structure of it. The way it is now it's very fragile and could break away as the wood starts to get wet and rot. Hopefully you don't have a lot of weight in that top tote. In the aquarium world here is how we build DIY stands out of 2x4s. These are cheap and can probably hold up an entire car. Figure your average 150g aquarium weighs over 1400lbs with water and glass.

Notice how the horizontal studs are tied into the vertical studs:

You then finish it off by placing another vertical stud in between the horizontal studs. The results is an extremely stout structure that can support thousands of pounds.

Yes Hp, you completely read my mind sir. Brilliant idea on the distribution tray. I can make one with the old plastic totes with lots of holes. With the moving bed screens, I can spray dmit down once in awhile while I spray down the sieve

That stand right there can take the weight of 150gallons tank for sure. My top tote is a flow through so it probably will not have too much water weight in it except for lots of POOP!!! . But a few more screws to each corner and bracing couldn't hurt

Good catch HP, the mesh input over the 3inch PVC started to clog so I removed it
