Pregnant or Sick (with a colored patch on the side)

      Hey Guys,

Just noticed my ginrin shiro utsuri developing a yellow patch on the side of her belly. She has been somewhat bloated for awhile now (couple months). We thought she was a female/pregnant so didnt think anything was wrong. She eats and swims just fine. We noticed today that she was not with the rest of the pack of the fish and thats when we noticed the yellow patch on the scales. Almost looks like a color change, but she is a shiro (black/white). Please tell me if this looks normal or not.

That looks very dire, I'm afraid. She is horribly egg laden, poor lass, and it could be that the eggs are going septic. You can see that the scales are actually sticking out and away from the body.
I've never experienced one this far gone pulling through. Ideally, she would have spawned.

If you want to try and pull her through it, I would recommend getting injectable antibiotics from a veterinarian, setting up a separate hospital tank for her where you can control the temp and she wouldn't be bothered by any males you may have in the pond. It looks like an internal infection from the eggs going septic. Any koi bumping into her (as would happen for spawning) would pump that infection through her system.
If you don't want to do the above, I would recommend euthanasia.

This koi should not suffer any longer and should be euthanized asap. No saving this one. Sorry
