Koi with damaged back after getting cought in skimmer net

A week ago my 18-inch Koi got caught in the skimmer net overnight. When I removed him he was severely bent. He can get around the pond in this sad condition - rise and swim (somewhat) to the bottom. With his head bent down, he appears to be eating off the bottom, then moves to other places and eats. I don't know if I should leave him alone since he appears to function to some degree or euthanize him. He is one of my favorites. He always swam across the pond to great me. He was very active before this happened.
      Thanks,
      Herb

I'm sorry, it's awful when things happen to our favorites. I had a wonderful like Chag get into a no niche skimmer overnight. Sadly, it badly damaged her and I ended up euthanizing after about 10 days.
Since he is a favorite and it isn't affecting his ability to eat and swim, you could see if he improves with some more time. It may not be much if he's already been like this for a week.
As far as quality of life, if he's eating and can get around then he may be okay if this stays the same. If he loses his ability to eat and swim then you may have to intervene.

Going forward, you may want to rig some kind of skimmer guard. There are tons of diy versions on this forum. If one did it then it's not unlikely to happen again.
Still learning as I go but y'all can call me Marilyn

Thanks for the encouragement. I did make a guard for the skimmer.

After nearly 8-days my brave fish passed away. He was my second favorite, and most personable, out of 15 Koi.
