      Our sponge Gourd

Check out these sponge gourd guys. It's been so hot in Bakersfield that these plants have only put out leaves and runners. Since it's starting to cool down, they have been flowering and fruiting. I have to hand pollinate each and every flower, our few natural bees aren't up to the task. I hate to report that I missed two female flowers so far.

They are a very nice treat. You can make them into soups, stirfry them, steam them,...

I feed with fish poo from the sieve. I do need to run a hose from the pond to the garden I've been lazy. Water is cheap here in Bakersfield agriculture area. I do a 25% water change daily on the pond to the gutter to keep the water from overflowing from my autofill that's on 24/7

I wonder if itll cover all my pergola this year. Last year another variety only covered 1/3 of our pergola. This one this year is already covering 2/3 of the big pergola..

Welp our luffas have started producing veggies again this year one month earlier than last year.

Turned out these are self pollinating no artificial polination needed hahah..
