      Rubber Mulch

Has anyone had a problem with rubber mulch by the pond being toxic to fish. My pond was build some years ago, the guy who built the pond made some mistakes, the pond is at a low point allowing rain water run into in, lots of runoff. So anyway, all my levels are good, PH between 7.5 and 7.8, No ammonia or Nitrite. KH is good. I have been losing fish. They seem to get weak, separate from the group and then they start swimming upstream till they die. They appear physically fine, gills look fine, no sores or marks. I am wondering is some rubber much I laid down is toxic. Has anyone heard of this ?

If your mulch is made from recycled tires it can contain toxins. Google it...there has been a lot written about Athletic Field cushioning being toxic to children.
