      Life without the greenhouse

Earlier this year we decided to sell our house and downsize. That decision included selling the greenhouse. I also decided that I would downsize the number of water plants and varieties, but was fortunate enough that my son said I could move what plant varieties I wanted to keep, to his property. The plants I kept have flourished this summer, and because of the rains I have only had to water them one time. Here are some of the pics of the ponds and the plants, not just blooms.

      Congratulations on the new house.

Beautiful plants. I'm glad you were able to keep those.

Do you leave the taros outside during winter?

I'm always amazed to see water lilies grown that way. Since they are normally seen in large bodies of water, I think it's incredible that they can be kept in "small" pots.

It's great that your son provided a place to keep your plants. Very generous of him.

Many days it feels that way with bugs flying around everywhere, and many times that includes mosquitoes. We dust for the mosquitoes but that only kills the larvae, not all of the mosquitoes that come from other places.

No, I have to bring them inside so that the bulbs to not freeze. I have tried leaving some out as a test but they died over the winter.

I trim the "excess" pads on occasion to keep them fitting better but they do well even when not trimmed. I also divide them every two years so they get repotted then as well.
