Guesses on what a cross like that would produce? I'm just curious more than anything. Like, would the Asagi reticulation show up with a Sunrai pattern or color? What kind of mutants do you think would come out of it?

What is a sunrai koi? I've never heard of it and google has no answers. The koi on the bottom looks like a goshiki or goromo to me.
I am not familiar with the term sunrai either. Goromo was my first thought. I would not rule out goshiki, since goshiki tend to not look like goshiki when they are little as it takes quite a while for the black or gray to emerge.
Here is a related thread about crossing goromo and asagi (more questions than answers) ...

I thought it was a Goromo too but Russ said it was a Sunrai. The way I understand it is they usually get culled because the Goshiki are better? IDK really.
Russ?
What's a sunrai?
Yeah, it's not a very good example of anything, super small and very messy for sure but I was curious about what a breeding would bring out from those two varieties. This little Goshiki/Sunrai actually started out as a Kohaku and then changed colors.
Haha! Yeah, it's neat having something a little less common even though it's a messy cull koi I wish it was a little better grower, that's my only real complaint. It will be fun watching the color mutate. It has a lot of tiny Sumi speckles coming up which is probably another bad thing.
That cross would result in a lot of wild type looking mutts.
I wonder what would be a good patterned fish to experiment with? Showa maybe?
I'm totally ok with a pond full of Goromos!
What would an Asagi x Chagoi produce?
Shunrai are a very old if not a forgotten strain it wants to look like an Asagi but with a tinge to the Shiro (white) in some cases the base for the recirculation base will be outlined with a grashis background almost resembling a soragoi but the Beni plates will tell or give anyone the impression is an undefined variety I guess that's why it's never been persued as a true line it just shows up at random in my experience, the only reason I can provide this information is because I've been working with Goshiki for over 10 years and I've seen the Shunrai koi show up in less than 2% of the fry and out of that 2% you hope you can fine or get lucky with one.

Thank you for the info! What would be a complimentary pairing with a Shunrai?
