      are oyster shells safe?

I recently adopted a yellow bellied turtle. I work at a seafood restaurant, we go through alot of oyster shells. Would it be safe for me to put them in my turtle's tank? Do I need to boil them first, or should I not use them at all?

Oyster shells themselves aren't hazardous and will eventually increase your KH a little, but not much else.
I think boiling them would be a good precaution.

I go to the beach every so often and collect oyster shells for my fish pond, to help stabilize the KH which keeps the pH up

      How would your turtle benefit?

If you have so many, bag them and offer them on Koiphen.

To clean them spread in the sun, the ants will do the rest.

      I presume you got ants.
