      Lotus & Pond Liner Question

Ok, let me start by saying I'm not stupid, but this is probably going to sound like a pretty stupid question!

Can Lotus tubers rip/poke through 45mil pond liners?

I assume not- but then I also assumed they wouldn't break my large water vase or my pots in the pond- both of which they demolished and kept on growing out of. So now I have all these runners across the bottom of my pond (on top the liner, for now) and I'm just a little nervous.

      Thanks!

I wouldn't worry. I grew lotus for years in ponds lined with 45 mil rubber....both dug ponds and above ground block ponds....and never had the lotus puncture the liner. There are some sturdier plants that will, like Thalia sp., but the only problem I had with the lotus was extricating them from the folds in the corners without damaging the runner.

Thanks Craig. Anything you post about plants I take with the same authority as an encyclopedia- so I will not worry at all from this point forward.
