Question Is there any hope for this orchid?

I was soaking it in rainwater collected in a pot and forgot to bring it back in...it got too much sun and burnt.

Put it in the shade and it may/should recover.

It will be fine because the root stalks are not damaged... but it's going to look terrible for awhile. Go ahead and trim those back so they don't waste any energy, put the plant in a cool place out of the direct light and stab a few of those Orchid stakes (I use the pink ones from Miracle Grow) into the pot and it will start to leaf out again after a period of remission.

Can remission be weeks or months?

It's going to take awhile, just depends on how strong the core of the plant is. Really no science to it...
