Yes, that would need to be pump fed but as someone that used one of those weirs, I'm going to suggest you find one that is more open. The appeal for me of that one was that the water would have a clean fall into the pond. The reality was that the tiniest bits of particulates made it look ragged and unappealing. Algae would often clog whole spaces in it.
It was a nightmare and I removed it within a few months of installing it.
Thanks for the info on that one. I guess these would function better on a chlorinated pool. I was wondering if I could core out a larger 3" inlet, that the gravity fed return would function well enough.
Did you end up using something like this?

What if I punch a 3" opening into this guy? Would the gravity feed work?
basic spillway
So I just have a 2x6 wooded frame around the perimeter of the pond so I’m just looking for a really simple option. The prior posted basic plastic spillway is fairly cheap so I’ll try adding in the 3” inlet and see what happens with it being gravity fed. I can always go back to where it’s at now. Thanks all.
So i ended up notching out the backside of the wood to get it to work and just used a 3" uniseal that i had laying for the back of the spillway. I know you are suppose to use bulkheads with underground work... and I plan on swapping one in here at some point. It only has an inch of soil over it... plus leaf mulch. I went to a roofing supply/shop and had them fashion up a quick copper lid which will brown out in time. I'll have to watch it all during the winter. If it starts to freeze up or cause issues... I can disconnect the whole thing easily and drain the line. Worked out great so far.

That lid looks great!

Thanks all.
The birds and chipmunks are now angry... the had been using this as a drinking station for the past week during our dry heat wave. Maybe i'll make a miniature cat walk around to the water so they can get a drink still!
How much flow do you have running through ?
I’ve seen a few animals make there way into the pond over the years but luckily there is a “walk out” area under the deck side for them to get out. The worst guy was a box turtle ... but my son snagged him to observe before letting him go.
As far as flow rate, I don’t have the exact number but the inlet is choked down enough so that I don’t see the chicken grit dancing around in the top layer.
Copper is toxic to koi. I have read articles about a number of effects that were eventually determined to be from the toxic effects of copper.

Noted...though the amount getting into the pond from rain running over this piece would be at nominal level and regular water changes would take care of it. Aren't pond algicides made from copper too?
