Under Water video aerated bottom drain

I wanted to show how effective a bottom drain can be. The BD was a lot of extra work to put in but it really paid off! Many thanks to everyone on koiphen for teaching me how to make this happen. My pond is far from perfect but it makes me happy. This pond will be one year wet in October. I had been waiting a while to fetch this little ceramic frog from the bottom of the pond.

I think this video shows two neat things about the bottom drain.
      1) When the net scrapes the floor, note how there is no sediment built up on the bottom of the pond. Any sediment is naturally drawn down to the drain and out to the filter. This includes extra leaves that sink before making their way to the skimmer.
I feed my fish a lot and I get lots of leaves. I have never had to clean out the pond.
      2) My water return placement causes the water to swirl very slowly (because I haven't created a water fall yet!). Many times that causes the small bubbles from the aerator to come together like a miniature tornado. Kinda neat, I think.

Thanks everyone for your frequent friendly advice.

Very nice video. I love seeing the fish in their world.

I wouldn't worry about it. Plastic (K1), even ceramic media, on occasion, have a tendency to escape filter chambers.

      The frogs are happy again.
Since you mentioned filter media, how is K3 so sneaky? K1 seems to stay put for the most part but K3 won't stay put.
