Can dwarf mondo grass be grown in a very wet location?

Hi to all My plant Friends .
I have Refurbished a tiny little preformed pond at My new house , and this pond has a little planter box island in it that has no drainage . I planted dwarf mondo grass in potting soil into the island , but this island fills up with water and the muck will probably go stagnant if I leave it the way it is .

My idea , is to create a drain that flows into the pond , but I don’t want the muddy wet soil to flow into the pond. Can I replant the mondo grass bare root style into small gravel instead of soil , and let it continue to get wet even though it will have some drainage , and will it do well in that wet location ?

I don't know about mondo grass, but monkey grass is doing great bare root in my waterfall and skimmer. I dug it up out of the yard, washed it off, and it never skipped a beat. You could always replant the mondo grass around the pond and add something to the floating planter that you know will do well. Impatiens are good and will be pretty. I would put plenty of holes in the planter for circulation.

Bare root Impatiens would look beautiful. You could use an aquatic soil to plant them in.

Mondo is fine with constantly moist....but I have to think a potting soil with no circulation is going to go anaerobic on you.
