      Ultima Filter Winterizing Question

I just purchased a used 6,000 filter and buried it. After connecting it I found that it leaks (there is a crack on the body of the valve near the union) so I called Aqua and they are sending me a new complete valve. My question is about how to remove the valve to replace it with a new one since it is buried and I can not drain the water from the bottom drain. I am afraid that when I undo the 3 unions and remove the clamp holding the valve in place and lift the valve the tank will be full of water and the water and beads will overflow onto the ground. Is there a way to remove the valve without losing beads? Thanks for your help.

question how to remove valve from Ultima without spilling beads

Can someone please tell me how to remove the valve from an ultima filter without having the contents of the barrel and the beads spill out. I will remove the unions, disconnect the clamp but what setting should I put the valve so that it doesn't spillover when opened? Thanks

This is one of those tricky double post. He can't drain it because it is buried.

      Good find.
I'll see if I can combine that thread with this one as they belong together.

I have units with external blowers and just put it in rinse mode and turn on the blower for a few seconds to drop the water level. If no blower available you could use compressed air. Uncouple the inlet fitting and connect a fitting with an air line or brute force it with a air hose and a wet towel.
