When you get new Koi you should, for the safety of the Koi, have a separate QT system to treat them before entering your pond, and, when you transfer them, you should empty the bag into a blue tub and then use a sock net to transfer the fish out of the old water. Mixing your pond water with the water they were transported in is also dangerous as the water in the bag could have a lot of ammonia in it and the pH usually drops during transport. When the pH drops that ammonia is much less toxic but, when you add fresh water to it, it raises the pH suddenly and the ammonia in the water becomes toxic and can burn the gills on the Koi.

I don't mean to be harsh but there a re a lot of people that will see this and they should know the potential for issues. Congratulations on your new Koi though, they look great. The Chagoi is probably 18" or so.
Thanks for the advise. I know there wasn't much water in the tube. As you can see, I toke some out. I was told not to much because the potential of the koi to jump out if the water is too deep. I was told cover the back or little less is fine. I was also told that in bagging the koi, you just want enough to cover the back of the back of the koi for less stress. Due to the fact that if it needs oxygen; all the koi have to do is raise his head; not swimming up for air and moving in the bag. We transported in a cardboard box. We also add another box next to the bag to make sure the water is above the koi. When putting in the car, we lay the box horizontally; head & tail of the koi faces passenger's two door. So, we the car brakes, it just moves side to side; not damaging head and tail.

I am new at this hobby for 2 years and still learning. Thanks for the advise.

As you can see, I always quarantine my koi before they go in my pond. Also, when I get a new koi, I never put transported water in my quarantine; just the koi.

Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Half of the back of the Chagoi was sticking out of the water in the tub. You need enough water in the tub that the Koi is able to float with out dragging its belly on the bowl like it was. The bag didn't have enough water and, since it was only going two hours, I understand what you did helped but water is cheap. More water would have been better.

As far as the QT information that was not directed to you, it was directed at Nguyen365. He put pond water in the bag with your water then put the Koi directly in his pond. It is so very important that everyone QT, and have the proper QT setup, as even bacteria from a friends pond can affect some one else's Koi. Your Koi look very healthy but that does not mean that the QT process should be over looked.

Okay. Maybe it was just a one time exception that the two koi were so close to getting a prize that they decided to put the two koi into the same tub so they can compare the koi side by side I don’t remember exactly. I’ve seen too many koi video when I find that video I’ll post it. I vaguely recall it being a video posted by the KOI PArtner YouTube channel. It was a All JApan show only no outsiders....

No, it was not a one time exception. The two Kohaku you saw were from the same breeder and you probably saw a video of them at SFF before they were sold but in the same tank. The Japanese NEVER mix other than at their own facility, the Koi are going to a show from their facility, or if the Koi all came from the same hobbyists pond.

      Best friends forever.

I should have bowled the koi then only add the koi only into the new pond without the water.

That's the best way to add a koi to a pond/quarantine tank; but the idea is to quarantine the koi first, just incase it has any diseases. And it might eliminate your whole pond, if you don't quarantine.

36 inches (and I was one of 3 people who helped carry this monster from the back of Catfish's truck to the pond).
