Our pond receives run off from a nearby reservoir as well as ground water, for about 10 months of the year. We get thousands of gallons a day and it overflows into an exit drain that goes to the sewer system. The problem is the large amount of sediment that comes with the water. I have a long narrow channel that I can plant up or just put a liner in and let the sediment get trapped and the clean water flow right into the pond. Then, when the "trap" (whatever that will be) gets filled up, we can just empty it out manually, I guess. Are there different options? I'd love to make it into a bog, but not sure what would happen once the bog would fill up with all that sediment! Thanks for any advice.
