My very first 8" Tosai critique please.

My first Tosai I ever bought at Andrew koi last week. Been wanting to built a pond for a while. finally did it this year. Any input will be appreciated.

This is little guy is scared of food. I throw it in on top of him he runs away. I don't think it's gonna be a keeper.

I'm not sure what your pond is like but smaller koi are often very skittish the first few weeks. Some take to the new environment quickly and others take a little time, especially if the other fish are larger. It's tough being the new kid on the block if you're the smallest.

Don't give up yet, it's a nice looking little koi. Try not to throw food on top of him, but rather scatter food in a few areas so that he can dash up to get some without feeling like he needs to compete with the bigger koi. I had a tosai like that and once she hit stride, she made up for the growth in the months that followed. She ended up being one of the largest in my pond.

Still learning as I go but y'all can call me Marilyn

Crush a couple of pellets and let it sink down to his level.

He needs to get the aroma of food again.

      Stand back and watch.

Only a couple to start off with.
